Community Resources on DAPA/DACA

Learn more about immigration law and services. Learn how our community can respond to ensure that:
(1) people have access to reliable information from trustworthy sources; (2) unscrupulous immigration "consultants" do not take advantage of people; and, (3) those eligible have the opportunity, help, and resources necessary to apply for the programs.

SPANISH
Use this webpage and materials in English and Spanish to inform yourself and others about what immigration service providers are doing in Minnesota. The information may change quickly and is not meant to constitute legal advice. Please check back often for updated information.

Legal Help

Immigration laws are complicated. It is important to seek out reliable and trustworthy legal information and help. The best providers of help in immigration matters are:

  • Free legal services for income-eligible persons (download list above for providers of free immigration services in Minnesota in DAPA/DACA matters). Such providers may provide full representation or limit their help to brief advice and service.
  • Private attorneys who specialize in the practice of immigration law.
  • Persons accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and who currently work for a non-profit agency recognized by the BIA.
It is illegal for non-lawyers or persons not listed above to provide legal advice or service. Beware of unscrupulous immigration "consultants" who engage in the illegal practice of law.

Immigration Advocacy

Picture
Not everyone who needs to regularize their immigration status will be eligible for DAPA/DACA, including some parents of children who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents or have DACA. We need to continue insisting that Congress pass comprehensive and humane immigration reform. Join us to intercede for immigration reform at the Vigils for Immigration and Reconciliation.
